Lo ha comunicato in una nota la stessa banca che ha affermato di aver subito una intrusione informatica con accesso non autorizzato a dati di clienti anche italiani relativi solo a prestiti personali. Gli hacker avrebbero cercato di rubare a BOV ben 13 milioni di euro, tramite il tentativo di un trasferimento illecito verso conti esteri. Nel primo pomeriggio di mercoled\u00ec 13 febbraio l\u2019istituto di credito ha emanato la seguente comunicazione, arrivata in breve tempo a tutti i correntisti come un fulmine a ciel sereno: \u00abTutte le funzioni della banca, le filiali, gli sportelli bancari, i servizi bancari mobili e persino i servizi di posta elettronica, sono state sospese, e il suo sito web \u00e8 stato messo offline\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>La banca ha assicurato i correntisti che non c\u2019\u00e8 stata nessuna intrusione nei conti correnti personali: \u00abI fondi dei clienti non sono stati in alcun modo influenzati o compromessi\u00bb.Secondo il primo ministro maltese Joseph Muscat l\u2019attacco hacker arriverebbe da oltre oceano. I 13 milioni di euro, infatti, sarebbero dovuti essere trasferiti in banche di Hong Kong, Repubblica Ceca, Stati Uniti e Regno unito. La situazione dovrebbe comunque essere ritornata alla normalit\u00e0 gi\u00e0 all\u2019indomani, nella mattina di gioved\u00ec 14 febbraio, quando l\u2019accesso ai conti online BOV sembra essere stato ripristinato. Non \u00e8 escluso che questo attacco sia avvenuto a semplice scopo dimostrativo, un comportamento tipico degli hacker che amano fare breccia in server ritenuti sicuri.<\/p>\n<p>A tal proposito, per Giovanni D&#8217;Agata presidente dello \u201cSportello dei Diritti\u201d, ancora una volta \u00e8 la prova che nessuno \u00e8 immune agli attacchi informatici.
