Cortina d’Ampezzo, la Regina delle Dolomiti, si prepara a essere invasa pacificamente da 1500 atleti che divisi tra i due percorsi vivranno un’esperienza indimenticabile nel cuore delle Dolomiti Patrimonio Unesco. Un’avventura lunga 118 chilometri con 5.740 metri di dislivello positivo attraversando luoghi d’incredibile bellezza come le Tre Cime di Lavaredo, la Croda da Lago, le Tofane, il Cristallo e le Cinque Torri.
Il programma della manifestazione è iniziato giovedì per l’apertura dell’Expo e per l’inizio della consegna dei pettorali. Il quartier generale per queste prime operazioni è il Teatro Alexander Hall di Cortina d’Ampezzo.
Il lavoro del Comitato Organizzatore in questi giorni è senza fi ne, inoltre la situazione meteo non stabile tiene sulle spine sia i responsabili della sicurezza sia i concorrenti.
«Le previsioni meteo per il weekend – ha detto Simone Brogioni, coordinatore della manifestazione – non sono ancora precise e questa instabilità generale del tempo ci costringe a tenere aperta anche l’ipotesi dei percorsi alternativi. Il chilometraggio e i dislivelli non dovrebbero cambiare di molto. In alcuni tratti c’è ancora neve quindi invitiamo tutti gli atleti a fare attenzione e a partire equipaggiati al meglio per affrontare temperature rigide».
La partenza della The North Face® Lavaredo Ultra Trail è prevista per le ore 23 di venerdì 28 giugno dal Corso Italia, proprio sotto il campanile della chiesa. La Cortina Trail, gara più breve di 46 chilometri con 2520 metri di dislivello partirà sabato mattina alle ore 8 sempre dal Corso Italia.
L’arrivo previsto del vincitore della corsa più lunga è previsto per le 11.30, mentre il vincitore della Cortina Trail arriverà presumibilmente verso le ore 12.30.
La manifestazione si chiuderà domenica mattina alle ore 11 in piazza Dibona con le premiazioni ufficiali dei vincitori.
Il prossimo imminente appuntamento da segnare in agenda è il briefi ng tecnico previsto alle ore 18 di venerdì (Teatro Alexander Hall/Cortina) che aggiornerà i concorrenti con le ultime notizie.

Tomorrow the programme of the 7th edition of the The North Face® Lavaredo
Ultra Trail will offi cially open. Uncertainty as regards the weather.
Cortina d’Ampezzo, the Queen of the Dolomites, is preparing to be peacefully invaded by 1,500
athletes who, divided between the two routes, will live an unforgettable experience in the heart
of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites. A 118 kilometre, 5,740 metre vertical climb adventure
through incredibly beautiful places such as the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, the Croda da Lago,
the Tofane, the Cristallo and the Cinque Torri.
The programme of the event will start tomorrow at 2 pm with the opening of Expo and for the
beginning of the assignment of the bib numbers. The headquarters for these fi rst operations is
the Teatro Alexander Hall in Cortina d’Ampezzo.
The organizing committee’s work in these days has no end. In addition, the unstable weather
conditions is keeping both those responsible for safety and those responsible for the participants
on their toes. “The weather forecast for the weekend,” said Simone Brogioni, coordinator
of the event, “is not as yet precise and this general instability of the weather is forcing us to
keep the option of changing the routes open. The distances and the climb should not change
much. On some stretches there is still snow therefore we would like to invite all the athletes to
be careful and to leave well-equipped to face rigid temperatures.”
The start of the North Face® Lavaredo Ultra Trail is foreseen for 11 pm Friday 28 June from
Corso Italia, right under the bell tower of the church. The Cortina Trail, a race of less than 46
kilometres with a 2,520-metre climb will leave on Saturday morning at 8 o’clock, again from
Corso Italia.
The arrival of the winner of the longer race is foreseen for 11.30 am, while the winner of the
Cortina Trail will presumably arrive about 12.30 pm.
The event will close on Sunday morning at 11 in Piazza Dibona with the offi cial prize giving.
